RECIPES EN ROUTE

Hello! I’m Jasmine.

Welcome to Recipes en Route. Something a little different from your conventional travel blog, marrying together not just food and travel, but also offering you the chance to experience it with me as I go ‘en route’ around the World.

My hope is that across this site, you’ll find something to pique your curiosity, excite you, and inspire you to try something new, whether it be in a new place, or from the comfort of your home.

Why did I start Recipes en Route?

In my opinion, there are two reasons to read a food blog:

  1. You want some inspiration or a recipe to eat at home…
Cue the sites with very good but generic recipes of how to make a classic dish from the country / genre you searched for, eg. a basic Pad Thai.
  2. You are going abroad and want to research places to eat when you are there…
These are my favourite kinds of blogs, filled with hidden gems ready to explore, and my Google maps is filled with incredible places I’m planning to visit.

But what if you aren’t able to go to a far off country right now? Or if you long for something more than just that basic Pad Thai recipe?

This is where I come in.

Recipes en Route is designed to be a hybrid between these two choices – for the people that love to cook, and want to discover new things that are not only the classic dishes representative of a country, but created by its people.

Think the fantastic Street Food series from Netflix, but enabling you to recreate the delicious food you see.

So, what I’ll be doing over the next year or more is travelling around far off places, hunting down those hidden gems, with a focus on street food and small family run restaurants, who have passed their families’ traditional recipes and techniques down through their generations, and I’ll be persuading them to share that recipe with you all at home. No small feat, I know!

Now here’s where it gets interesting.

All the recipes I gather will be sent to you to use as many times as you like… and it will only cost you a minimum of £1.
A percentage of the funds you pay will go to support the person that created your recipe, essentially as if you were in their restaurant, buying a meal.
The more you choose to pay for your recipe, the bigger the percentage that will be shared with them.

And its as simple as that! Virtual tourism, through food.

How do I get involved?

  1. Choose your donation amount (minimum of £1) – dig deep people!
  2. Go to checkout to complete your purchase
  3. You will receive an email with your purchased recipe, including ingredients, steps and tips
  4. Your payment will be processed and a percentage of this will be donated to the creator of the recipe (for full details please see the legal section of this website). The more you can donate, the more they will receive.
  5. Create your recipe at home!

So that’s it – something a little different that gives back to the people that really need it.

For those of you that love cooking at home, I hope you find this useful and motivating enough to get involved!

For those of you not quite convinced yet – not to worry – there’s plenty on here for you to still be inspired! I’ll be sharing stories and tips throughout my travels, on how to make the leap into doing it in the first place, to places I’ll see, what to pack, and much more. And – if you click the Instagram link below, it’ll take you to my page where I’ll share all my favourite places as I go.

Thank you so much for deciding to come ‘en route’ with me, I hope you enjoy the ride!
